| There were two different stories being told here and unfortunately, neither one of them fulfilled its promise. A women officer requests assignment to Ranger school after a secret assignment behind enemy lines goes bad. Her training is difficult. Just before graduation, in spite of all the safeguards around the training center, her former colleagues, including her lover (Michael Beihn) and "Shooter", (AP) manage to get into the compound and have an night together. Shooter standing guard at the door, with AP's "Mister Smiley" bit is funny, and the smirk is one to remember. Her company is set for a training exercise. Now we all know what happens on these little training exercises, don't we... (Anybody remember Star Trek Movie II?) Against the objection of her sergeant, she decides to rescue a group of Americans (Beihn and "Shooter" are among them). They have the usual problems trying to get everyone out and finally, Shooter is exposed as a double agent and is killed in a knife fight with Michael Beihn. This had a lot of potential, but too many directors left it at the gate. |
