Oh, my... The good news is AP running around with a sword. The bad news is the plot... They said they had one, I didn't say I believed them. I realize that this is for younger viewers, but...

So, we have Merlin coming into our time, abetted by Lancelot (AP) complete with a thrill filled waterside!

Merlin has Arthur and his knights tucked away in a safe place in the fabric of time to prevent Arthur's death. He becomes aware that Mordred has found some way to weaken the spell that is holding him in a series of caves, also in another time track.

Tia Carrera is "Maxwell", a scientist, who, according to the script, found the magical helmet Mordred wore in that last battle with Arthur. She has been able to make contact with Mordred through a local psychic. Mordred has promised to give her a free hand and all the money she will ever need to continue her research once he conquers everybody.

Frankly, I really think she could get a grant somewhere else, but there you are.

Meanwhile, back in the village in our time, a mother and her son have come back to live with her Aunt since she is alone now. The boy, Richie... (yep and he pays attention about as well) reluctantly makes friends with the daughter of the psychic. Merlin shows up and the kids wind up helping to finally get rid of Mordred.

Lancelot's scenes, particularly the films ending when he decides to stay in our time instead of going to an alternative one with Arthur and Gwen, are good. AP makes him a man troubled by his past betrayal.   It has become important for Lancelot to regain the trust of the king he once served so well.

The special effects are nicely done but the outfits on some of the women, including poor Gwen... Her hair is in small corkscrew curls and the "armour" is really silly.

Taken as a kid's film, I suppose it isn't too bad, though I hate films that talk down to the kids.  For us oldsters, watch it for fun and AP's turn as swordmaster.
