This was a pilot, and if it had sold, we might never have had "Highlander". So... I guess I'm glad that it didn't sell, though I do like a great deal about it.

The Plot is reasonable, I do wish the director had kept the little girl on a tighter leash. She's really shrill and not realistic as the kid trying to get the Owl to find her father.

Papa, it seems, is a scientist working on enhancing plant growth. His new discovery also can enhance the strength of humans, but it also addicts them, immediately.

Alex, the Owl, was an investigative reporter looking into the dealings of the owner of the research facility where the scientist was working. The owner first tried to bribe him, then set up a car bombing, killing Alex's wife and child. It also made Alex unable to sleep.

We first meet him, whistling, and walking into a convenience store as a robbery is taking place. Among the customers is an old friend, a lady cop, and her new partner. He takes out the robber, tossing him through the front window of the store. The girl, who has gotten lost looking for her father asks the lady cop who Alex is and we learn that he's been taking out criminals "He can't sleep, so he has to do something."

The rest of the film is not bad, but it was obvious that the repeated flashbacks were stuck in to extend the film. Adrian has a couple of Katas that are beautifully done and the character, taken from a Howard Fast novel, is interesting.

Well worth a popcorn afternoon

Additional note: There is a script for a re-make of the owl floating around. I don't know whether to cheer or scream...
