The Void casts AP as Prof. Steven Price, a quiet hardworking engineer employed by a company owned by Dr. Thomas Abernathy (Malcolm McDowell). Price meets and is seduced by Prof. Eva Soderstrom (Amanda Tapping) the daughter of the man who originally developed the incredible source of power that is the Void. She is trying to find out who killed her father and wants access to the company, which Stephen can give her.

She finds out that Abernathy intends to resume experimentation on the project her father felt was too dangerous to finish. Eva and Stephen have to stop Abernathy before he unleashes a black hole that could destroy the planet.

AP's reluctant hero is very well played. He's claustrophobic and the hunt through the air conditioning vents to find a way to damage the computer program and thus stop Abernathy even makes me nervous. They are caught by Abernathy's Chief of Security who already has two deaths to account for and are tied to chairs, waiting for the system to go bad. When it does, Abernathy sends for them to help him. Stephen winds up in a wheelchair with a broken ankle with the Security man getting him into the power room so he can make sure of the power source they need go set up a controlled explosion rather than a "China Syndrome" scenario. It works and for all the relationship had a rocky start, it looks as though it has a future.
