This is just a short piece of fluff, not a fic but
more of a poem. I have one more Cole one and hopefully
some Mel ones eventually as well.

I barely know you, yet I feel as though we've had a
lifetime

I'm a stranger here, yet you make me feel at ease

You've just met me, yet you trust me so completely

Your human form is so primitive, yet you are so very
beautiful

There is something hidden within you that even you
don't know about yet

Your lifeless body brings back painful memories of
what I have lost

I know that we need each other and I cannot let you
die

I share my life force with you so that you can live

You say that crying is what happens when humans care

I know that I have come to care for you, even in this
brief time

You're too weak to walk, so I carry you in my arms

As I carry you down the road, I think of the
challenges ahead

I know that a friendship has been forged and that a
bond is beginning to form

I'm already hoping that somehow, I won't have to say
goodbye when my work is done

We have so far to go and a lifetime of learning that
lies ahead of us

The road ahead is long and dangerous, but I know that
I will not be traveling it alone

And I am comforted to know that we will be facing
whatever happens together
